Fellowship and Professorship from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM)

The International Fellowships and Professorships deadline for the first round of applications in 2009 is approaching, on October 15. The International Affairs is very pleased to introduce a new benefit for ASM members interested in participating in the Fellowship and Professorship programs. Two separate online databases; one of potential Fellowship Hosts and one of Visiting Professors are now available and can be accessed through the ASM website.

International Affairs has found that one of the greatest challenges for fellowship candidates is connecting with a host interested in developing a proposal. To facilitate this connection, we developed a user-friendly online database of ASM members interested in hosting young investigators at their institution in the United States. Potential Fellows will be able to search this database and contact potential host professors based on the professors’ profiles. The database is now available via the ASM International Fellowship Program webpage: http://www.asm.org/Internationa l/fellowship

Likewise, in order to facilitate the connection between US visiting professors and host institutions in developing countries, we developed a second online database of ASM members interested in acting as visiting professors to foreign universities. Host institutions will be able to search this database and contact potential visiting professors based on the professors’ profiles.
